Building the next generation: Skills, diversity and the built environment sector

As part of Labour Party Conference 2018, together the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) invite you to attend a panel debate on the future of skills, diversity and the built environment.

It is estimated that the construction industry will need to find almost 230,000 new recruits between 2016-2020 to avoid the rapidly worsening skills shortage. The construction sector must draw on a talent pool of people from all backgrounds in order for the sector to thrive and build the next generation of skilled workers.

Join panellists Roberta Blackman-Woods MP, Shadow Minister for Planning and Helen Hayes MP, former planner and member of the HCLG Select Committee, along with a range of professionals across the built environment sector to discuss the importance of skills, diversity and building an attractive sector to work in. Following the panel debate you will have the opportunity to have your questions answered.

The lively and interesting debate will be followed by a drinks reception which will give you the perfect opportunity to meet and network with professionals from across the built environment.
