Connections: Spotlight on Scotland

This year, IGLYO’s Annual Members Conference will be hosted in Edinburgh by LGBT Youth Scotland. To celebrate the occasion, we’re running a special one-day event that brings together international attendees of the conference and young activists from Scotland for a day of activities and workshops.

Connections: Spotlight on Scotland will explore LGBTQI activism through the lens of recent Scottish campaigns, creating a space where participants from across Europe can come together to learn from one another and connect.

Sessions include:

  •   A Human Library of key figures from across the generations of Scottish LGBTQI activism. Learn more about LGBTQI life in Scotland and the people whose work has shaped that experience by getting to know a real person: an open book for you to enjoy.
  •   A digital scavenger hunt that will let you explore some of Edinburgh’s historic old town, documenting the adventure live on Twitter as you go. The perfect opportunity to make new friends.
  •   A panel discussion on the future of Gender Recognition legislation featuring speakers from local and international campaigns.

Workshops:

  •   Zine making
  •   Intersex activism
  •   LGBT Youth Scotland's "Supporting transgender young people" guidance
  •   Inclusive sport (delivered by LEAP Sports Scotland)
  •   Digital activism (delivered by Kate Adair, BBC The Social)

We want to welcome young people aged 16 to 30 to take part, whether you’ve attended LGBT Youth Scotland events in the past, or you’ve never engaged with us before. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to make new connections.
