Hello
I would like to invite you to the next meeting of London’s 'LGBT+ Venues Forum' at City Hall, The Queens Walk London SE1 2AA on Tuesday 3 July from 4.30pm to 6pm. An agenda can be found below.
As the Mayor of London’s Night Czar, I want to ensure that London is a city where LGBT+ communities are able to meet and socialise in a safe space and where our heritage and culture is protected. I would like us to continue the conversation and to work together to tackle the challenges that LGBT+ venues and promoters face.
Research by University College London (UCL) shows that London’s LGBT+ nightlife spaces have seen a recent intensity of closures. Particularly at risk are longstanding venues and those catering to minority groups within our community. This is important work and I am confident that together we can affect real change.
In response the Mayor has announced a series of measures to help stem the flow of closures including carrying out an annual audit of venues, instructing me to mediate in individual ‘at risk’ cases and launching a new LGBT+ Venues Charter.
If there are any other venues or organisations that you know or work with could you please kindly pass their details to Ed Bayes ([email protected]).
Agenda:
Introduction from Night Czar and update on City Hall work
Introductions from table
Minutes from last meeting
‘Health check’ on London’s LGBT+ venues (roundtable discussion)
LGBT+ Venues audit
LGBT+ Drinkaware Crew Pilot Scheme
Next steps for the Forum

I look forward to seeing you there.
Yours sincerely
Amy Lamé
