LGBTSTEM Day - Out Thinkers



July 5th marks the first LGBTSTEM Day, the International day for LGBTQ+ people in STEM. As one of the organisers of this international initiative, Pride in STEM will host a special Out Thinkers night in collaboration with Proud Crick, in the incredible Francis Crick Institute in St.Pancras.

Taking to the stage for this amazing evening of Science and Tech will be:

  • Lyn Healy – head of the Human Embryonic Stem Cell Unit at the Crick
  • Linda Cremonesi - particle physicist from UCL using neutrinos to unravel the mysteries of the universe
  • James Turner – a senior group leader who works on sex chromosomes.
  • Cerys Bradley - Ph.D. student working on the Dark Web
  • Melvyn Yap – Principal Laboratory Research Scientist, working on HIV.

The evening will be presented by Pride in STEM chair and founder, Dr. Alfredo Carpineti.

The doors to the event will be open from 5:30pm, with the event starting at 6:15pm. The nearest tube stations are King’s Cross and Euston.

The event is free to attend but booking a ticket is required!

Out Thinkers serves to showcase the talent of LGBT+ researchers, providing a platform where people can talk about their scientific work while truly being themselves. Out Thinkers events feature a range of phenomenal speakers talking about their research and experiences as LGBT+ individuals in academia.
