Did you know that:

• Almost half of primary school teachers say pupils in their school experience homophobic bullying and seven in ten hear homophobic language – phrases like ‘that’s so gay’ – from pupils. 
• Nine in ten teachers say they want to tackle the problem, but lack the training or support to do so.
• In 2013 Ofsted released guidance to inspectors to look at a school’s actions to prevent and tackle homophobic and transphobic bullying as part of a section 5 inspection.

This event, led by Shaun Dellenty, in partnership with the University of Greenwich ITE Partnership will focus on how schools can tackle homophobia and celebrate difference.

Shaun Dellenty is the founder of the award-winning LGBT+ education project Inclusion for All and is a highly respected educationalist who has been working to positively prevent LGBT+ and identity based prejudice in the UK education system and communities since 2009. He is a nationally recognised lead on LGBT+ inclusion in schools in the UK, with particular experience in preventing homophobic bullying. He has trained more than 8,400 school staff in the UK alone to prevent bullying related to sexual orientation and identity and he has worked with many national anti-bullying and LGBT organisations including NSPCC, Amnesty International, Stonewall and Kidscape. In 2016 his work was recognised by the then Prime Minister, David Cameron with his ‘Point of Light’ Award.
