Glasgow Pride celebrates 30 years of marching for equality
Glasgow marked 30 years of Pride and its 25th official march as tens of thousands filled the streets in a vibrant show of solidarity. What began in 1996 as a protest has grown into one of Scotland’s leading demonstrations for equality and inclusion. Former first minister Nicola Sturgeon joined the parade alongside Time for Inclusive Education (TIE), spotlighting the importance of inclusive schooling in tackling discrimination. New documentary on gay footballer celebrated at Football Pride Premiere
In Leeds, sport and queer storytelling came together at the Northern UK premiere of “The Last Guest of the Holloway Motel,” a documentary about former professional footballer Tony Powell. Screened during Football v Homophobia’s Football Pride event, the film explores Powell’s journey through football, sexuality, estrangement and emotional reconciliation. A post-screening panel featuring trailblazers from inclusive football highlighted how stories like Powell’s are reshaping the game and fostering safer spaces for LGBTQ+ players and fans.
