About Basildon Pride

Basildon Pride was founded in 2018 following a significant rise in hate incidents directed towards the LGBT+ Community in our borough. Our response was a march through Basildon Town Centre with the message that “Love Conquers Hate” followed by a celebration at Colors Nightclub.

Following our ‘Mini Pride’ event, Basildon Pride formally constituted and focused on arranging our first ever festival which took place in Gloucester Park in September 2019. Over 4,500 people attended, and it quickly became clear that Basildon Pride had cemented its place within the Basildon Borough and surrounding areas.

Working for Basildon Pride

You can help us bring pride to Basildon by volunteering to be part of the Basildon Pride Team.

It’s can be a great way to get real-world working experience, improve your confidence and meet new people.

Basildon Pride promotes acceptance, equality and validation, so our volunteering opportunities are open to everyone to apply.

What you’ll get

- Full comprehensive training for the event and how to handle emergencies

- Placement in an area that’s suitable to your skills or abilities

- Certificate upon completion that you can use as part of your professional portfolio or just for display

- Volunteering at Basildon Pride can be a great way to meet your community outreach goals! Your colleagues can help out during the day in a number of different roles including stewarding the parade, with comprehensive training prior to the event.

Either online or in-person, we want to create a social network to help tackle feelings of loneliness, social isolation and hopelessness.
