About Everybody's Perfect Geneva International Queer Festival

As the first festival of its kind in French-speaking Switzerland, Everybody's Perfect has been showcasing global LGBTQI+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer) expressions since its founding in 2010. Each year in october, the festival takes place over 10 days at the Grütli cinemas in Geneva, focusing on major themes related to the LGBTQI+ community. A highlight of the festival is the discussion and networking evenings, where experts on the subjects raised, with the support and collaboration of local and international partners, associations, and institutions, engage with the audience.

The festival not only celebrates cinema but also its interaction with other forms of art. Through performances, exhibitions, workshops, music, and festive gatherings, Everybody's Perfect liberates artistic expression and allows everyone to share their feelings and explore their identities.

Why an LGBGTQI+ Film Festival?

An engaged artistic event fosters social connection, creativity, and advances collective thinking. The festival contributes to the expression, defense, and exploration of human rights, playing an essential political role in shaping an inclusive society. It aligns with the mission of the rainbow cities network, to which Geneva belongs. The festival revitalizes the power of cinema—its immersive darkness, its imposed rhythm—offering viewers the unique adventure of rediscovering their childlike sense of wonder or experiencing a dream with their eyes wide open.

Films satisfy a natural desire for identification and the need for escape. LGBTQI+ minorities do not have any other cultural event of this magnitude in Geneva. The festival responds to the profound desire of citizens to actively participate in the progress of global society, which thrives and grows, in part, through cinema and its interactions. The international film program also fulfills the desires of Geneva’s global audience, which we hope to engage more fully.

A Collaborative Effort with Partners

Every year, Everybody's Perfect establishes partnerships with regional and international LGBTQI+ associations, providing an opportunity to showcase their on-the-ground efforts to a wide audience. These organizations, active in fields as diverse as health, social connections, migration, artistic expressions, discrimination, and research, find in the festival a platform for promotion, dissemination, and collaboration. In 2018, the festival's attendance grew by 54%, a clear indicator of its increasing relevance and impact.

A New Organization

Since 2018, with a strengthened structure and a renewed team, Everybody's Perfect has continued and expanded the vision initiated eight years earlier. We are seasoned professionals from the art and culture sectors, passionately committed to enhancing the quality of the festival, expanding its success, and ensuring its sustainability, so that we can continue to be active participants in shaping societal evolution.
