About Ingeus

Our mission is to enable better lives

We help governments, employers, and local partners design and deliver services to solve complex challenges caused by social and technological change. Our services improve opportunities and help create strong societies in which people have the independence, knowledge, and know-how to thrive.

Every day our teams across the UK help people improve their skills, employment, health and wellbeing. We’re purpose-led, passionate and proud to work with customers and communities to drive social change.

Our story

Ingeus evolved from an Australian start-up called Work Directions in 1989, to become a global provider of services that assists thousands of citizens every day, operating as part of the APM (Advanced Personnel Management) Group.

The original insight that created Ingeus in Australia – that people with barriers to work should be supported to thrive rather than left alone to just survive – was one that quickly found success when they started services in the UK in 2002.

The original belief, that work is good for people, is now a mainstream view in public policy. Ingeus built on this basic principle and created new, better ways to support people with barriers in their lives.

In the UK, Ingeus took its knowledge, skills and vision and applied it to other areas of people’s lives so that we now deliver services in health, employment, youth and justice.

Since 2002, Ingeus has expanded into countries across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific. Find out more about Ingeus around the world.

In 2019, Ingeus became part of the international human services and healthcare provider, APM Group. APM Group's UK business, APM UK, whose history of helping people with skills and employment services started in 1997, now operates as part of Ingeus in the UK.

Together, we continue our shared mission to enable better lives.

We're a team of more than 9,000 people across 11 countries, dedicated to helping individuals of all abilities thrive with independent and fulfilling lives.

Every day around the world our employees continue to develop trusted partnerships with individuals, families, communities, local and national governments, and businesses at every level, by delivering quality services and support.

In the last 12 months, the APM Group's services have reached the lives of more than 1 million people. We welcome you to find out more about our organisation and join us in enabling better lives for a million more.
