As an organization, we actively promote Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Queer & Intersex (LGBTQI) equity and awareness at work and in our wider society. We want everyone to be free, to be their best and true selves at work without fear of discrimination. That’s why we were the first global pharmaceutical company to support the United Nations Standards of Conduct for Business, tackling discrimination against LGBTI People.

We want everyone at Novartis to feel they belong and be inspired every day to make a difference. We want to shine a spotlight on the amazing work of our Pride Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), who play a critical role in connecting and supporting our global LGBTQI+ and Ally community at Novartis. By providing a safe space to share lived experiences, they help spark ideas that create positive change for our people and patients.

Recently our colleague Stephie shared her powerful story about coming out as transgender.

'When I was in my late forties, I came to the realization that I was transgender. I signed up with a transgender clinic in Basel and went through a period of counselling. It was not long before I decided that I did not want to live a double life and that the right thing for me to do was to come out as transgender at work.'
