As a social mobility network, Access All Areas focuses on promoting retail as a sector that offers amazing careers, allowing people to develop their skills, enhance their potential, and progress.
The Access All Areas Network recognises that talent is everywhere 'but that opportunity isn't' and that accessible health and beauty applies just as much to our people as our products and services. Through quality work experience, apprenticeships, development programmes, and mentoring, we aim to make opportunities accessible for everyone no matter their start in life or background.
Our Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ apprenticeship programme is a cornerstone of our social mobility strategy, providing young people with valuable qualifications and permanent roles. To date, over 4,500 team members have completed apprenticeships with us.
We are extremely proud of our expanded Life Skills Programme, originally launched in 2022 for apprentices, and to all team members in 2023. Graded Outstanding by OFSTED during our latest inspection, the programme is designed to equip our teams with essential skills for everyday life, in and out of the workplace. It covers everything from digital literacy and career exploration to money management, physical and mental wellbeing, and more, helping our team members thrive in their careers and beyond.
Working with our charity partners, Drive Forward and the Care Leavers Covenant, we offer permanent job opportunities and work placements to care-experienced young people. Our team members also provide mentoring and skills training including CV and interview skills workshops.
We also work with Working Chance and HMP Bronzefield, providing work and skills for women with convictions.

I am passionate about gender equality and have been part of the Gender Equality Network and Steering Group for a few years.
The network aims to create a fair, supportive, and flexible workplace for people of all genders.
Recently, we have focused on menopause, domestic abuse, sexual harassment, pregnancy loss, and men’s mental health and well-being. This has included influencing policy, writing toolkits, and education and awareness on these topics.
The network supports working parents and carers, ensuring our policies work for all. We also partner with Carers UK, to support working carers.
In 2024, we won the Employee Benefits Award for Best Benefits to Support Menopause.
We also aim to inspire, role model, and celebrate women and male allies in our business, helping everyone to achieve their best.

The Harmony Network supports the business to become the employer of choice that attracts a diverse workforce. We want to harness people’s unique backgrounds and talents for individuals and customers.
We believe that every team member can come to work as their authentic self, including Black hair and hairstyles, which is why we are signatories to the Halo Code, a campaign that exists to build a future without hair discrimination.
We are also signed up to the Race of Work Charter, and work with team members on our internal commitments to improve racial and religious equality in the workplace.
We focus on educating and celebrating key dates and religious festivals, with speakers and webinars, storytelling, food events, and hosting Iftars and Diwali celebrations.
The Network was behind the launch of the Religious Holidays policy and is developing a Religious Inclusion toolkit.

The Pride Network is dedicated to ensuring our LGBTQIA+ team members can bring their full selves to work and that they are in a safe space to voice concerns and feel supported.
We know that everyone performs at their best when they feel comfortable bringing their full selves to work – and for our LGBTQIA+ team members, that means not having to hide who you are or who you love, while at work. Our Pride Network strives to make sure that LGBTQIA+ policies and practices are in place to promote equality and provide support, promotes a better understanding of LGBTQIA+ inclusion by making LGBTQIA+ experiences more visible in the wider business and raising awareness all year round about issues that have an impact on our LGBTQIA+ team members and customers.
In 2023 we joined Stonewall’s Diversity Champion Programme and were recognised with a bronze award.
Like myself, many people within the LGBTQIA+ community have had to hide their true selves at some point in their lives, whether at school, at home, or in the workplace. I’m proud of what we do to support our team members and customers so they feel represented, listened to, and confident that they can be themselves. It’s also so important to us as a Network to be active with the community outside of our workplace, which is why we continue to support our local Pride events in Croydon and partner with Switchboard, the national LGBTQIA+ support line, where we champion and promote the vital services they provide for our community.

Our Disability Network focuses on disabilities and long-term health conditions. We are committed to building awareness and supporting our team members, breaking down stigmas, removing labels attached to disability, and ensuring we are an inclusive and accessible workplace.
We introduced a Reasonable Adjustments Passport & Toolkit to facilitate open and supportive dialogues between team members with disabilities or long-term health conditions and their managers. This ensures every individual feels heard and supported, enabling them to thrive in their workplace.
The network runs educational webinars on a range of disability and health topics, including neurodiversity and mental health, to educate and support our teams.
We are proud to have Disability Confident Level 2 status and to have signed the Valuable 500, a global community revolutionising disability inclusion through business leadership and opportunity.

Our workforce spans every generation with team members aged 16 to 88! Having multiple generations in the workforce not only creates a diverse and inclusive environment, but also brings together unique perspectives, skills, and experiences.
Our mission is to 'champion a fair, supportive, and rewarding environment for our team members of all life stages, leading to a truly age-inclusive workplace'. The network gives our team members a space to talk to us about what they need at each life stage and share their experiences. It will also help the business attract the best new talent from all generations and ensure we have a great environment in which everyone feels empowered to learn and grow.
I love being a part of our Age network. The best thing about our business is the people and the Age network is a great opportunity to celebrate everyone!
